December 2017

Dear Hampton Academy Parents and Students,

We hope you had a relaxing break and enjoyable Thanksgiving.  We would like to begin by thanking you for attending our parent conferences.  If you have not had an opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers, we ask that you contact the school so you can review progress to date.  We encourage you to maintain an open line of communication throughout the school year.  If you need to contact staff after hours, you are welcome to email or leave a message on our voice mail system.  These venues are available 24 hours a day. The first trimester ends this Friday, December 1.  Report cards will be available on Monday, December 11.

Please remember to keep your family’s childcare plans and emergency contact information updated in the event of an unanticipated early dismissal during the unpredictable winter weather months.  Also, please review the Hampton School District Handbook and website for information regarding school closings and early dismissal procedures.

We ask all drivers to use extra care and caution, particularly in or near our student drop off loop, as snow, ice, and speed are elements that increase potential dangers.  For the safety of our students and staff, the drop off loop is the only safe and supervised drop off area for students

Our school nurse, Mrs. Brand, would like to remind families that with the cold and flu season upon us, it is important to keep your child home if he or she is ill.  If they have a fever, children should not return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours (without the use of medication). A fever is considered high when body temperature is greater than 100 degrees. Please remind your child to wash hands frequently, get a good night sleep, eat healthy meals and drink plenty of water.  If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Brand at 926-2000.

As you are probably aware, we are offering an afternoon academic/homework assistance program.  The program meets on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for all grade levels.  There is a late bus available.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak with your child’s teachers, guidance counselor, or school administration.

Our Student Council is hosting a candy-cane fundraiser. Candy canes will be on sale beginning Tuesday, December 5th, during lunches.  Proceeds from this event will support families in need this holiday season.

Please join us on Friday, December 15, or Saturday, December 16, for a special holiday production of “It’s a Wonderful Neverland”.  Performances are at 7 PM.  Tickets are five dollars at the door and will also be available for sale at lunches.

We hope you will join us for our holiday band concert on Wednesday, December 20, at the Winnacunnet High School auditorium.  The band(s) will perform at 6:00 PM.

On behalf of the Hampton Academy staff, Ms. DeVylder and I would like to wish you and your family a happy, healthy, holiday season.  Dismissal for the winter break is Friday, December 22, at 11:30 AM.  Students return on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
