April 2019

 Dear Hampton Academy Families,

Now that the winter months are behind us, we look forward to culminating activities and planning for the next school year. Placement planning for the 2019-2020 school year is underway.  Parents of sixth and seventh grade students will receive a placement overview letter and selection form via our Messenger email system today.  We request that the Placement/Selection form be returned by Friday, April 12.  This is a good time to ensure your contact information is correct, as there are many activities and reminders sent home during the last trimester of the school year.

Please be aware, next week our student drop-off loop will be redirected to begin site work in the staff parking area.  This pattern will remain until the end of the school year.  Visitor parking will be location near the gymnasium.

Beginning mid-April, Hampton Academy students will participate in the New Hampshire State Assessment, which includes Science (grade 8 only), Math, Reading and Writing.  It is done online in the classroom on their Chromebook, with sessions being approximately 2 hours long over the course of three days. These test results are important tools available to parents and educators to determine how well our school is helping your child meet standards and grade level expectations.  In every assessment, scores are only as meaningful as the effort students put into the tests.  Please encourage your child to take the tests seriously and to put forth his or her best effort.  You can best help your child prepare for the assessment by making sure they are rested, have a good breakfast, and arrive to school on time.  Students who are absent will be given time to make these tests up.  Make up testing will take place in the afternoons or on a later date.  Test results for all students will be available later this year. Thank you for supporting your child and our school.

We would like to recognize our winter sports teams, drama club and MathCounts team, and their coaches/advisors.  The basketball and wrestling teams had great seasons.  Our band and chorus performed beautifully at the All SAU concert this past Tuesday, March 26th.  Thank you to all the parents and volunteers who supported these groups.    School is closed the week of April 22-26, for spring vacation.

Although we are just beginning our final trimester, we want all students to maintain their routines and stay academically focused.  Our AAA and Power Hour help sessions continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, into June.  We encourage you to continue to communicate with your child’s team and do not hesitate to contact them with questions or concerns.
