Dear Hampton Academy Families,

From the staff of Hampton Academy, we welcome the New Year and all the challenges and possibilities it brings.  As we set goals for the second part of our school year, we hope that 2019 will bring good health and happiness to all of our students and their families.

We use the Messenger system to send voice and/or text messages to your computer, home phone or cell phone.  As a reminder, to utilize the full functionality of this program, we must have updated home, cell and email contact information.  If you have any recent changes, please be sure to let us know as soon as possible.

Information concerning inclement weather, school closure and early dismissal procedures can be found on the SAU/Hampton Academy websites.  In the event of a cancellation, you will be notified at 6:00 AM.  Occasionally, school opening will be delayed by two hours (9:37 AM instead of 7:37 AM).  An early dismissal may also be necessary, in which case students are dismissed at 11:30 AM instead of 2:22 PM.

As always, we encourage you to be in close contact with your child’s teacher(s) to ensure optimal growth and progress.  The Afterschool Academic Assistance program provides students with an opportunity to get a head start on homework or assistance with projects and assignments.  If you would like your child to take advantage of this opportunity, please notify your child’s teacher so a permission form can be sent home.  Late bus transportation is available for students on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Ski Club begins this Friday, January 4.  We have approximately one hundred and forty students participating in this popular event.  We will be using e-mail to communicate with families regarding updates and cancellations for the program.  As a reminder, ski equipment can be dropped off in the dining hall on the mornings of Ski Club.  Please label everything!  A parent/chaperone meeting will be held the first Friday at 1:25 PM in the dining hall prior to leaving for the mountain.

The Hampton School Board is in the process of working with the Hampton Budget Committee to review the proposed 2019-2020 School District budget.  The public review is January 15 at the town hall and the Deliberative Session will be held at Hampton Academy on February 5.  All meetings begin at 7:00 PM.

The School Board meets January 8, at 6:30 PM, in the Town Offices.  There is no school on January 21, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Wednesday, January 30, is an early release day for students; dismissal at 11:30 AM.

On Thursday, January 24, Winnacunnet High School is offering “Course Selection Night” for parents and students of the class of 2023, at 7:00 PM. This evening will outline the process of student transition to ninth grade at Winnacunnet.  Students and parents will learn how to select courses and what elective opportunities are available.

The basketball and wrestling teams are competing as well as our after-school clubs.  Please check our web calendar for upcoming dates, locations and start times.  The Spelling Bee and Geography Bee competitions are also held this month.

Hampton Academy's mission is to provide an environment where all students are encouraged to reach their academic, artistic, social and physical potential in order to become productive citizens in an ever-changing world.  This mission is best achieved when staff, families, and community share the responsibility of educating our adolescents during their middle school years.
